Anti-authority struggles led by students of the New Left gradually petered out after its peak at the end of the 1960s. A small number of radical fighters raided a police box and a gun shop to obtain firearms and formed the United Red Army in order to achieve ‘revolution’ by force. While the group moved around in snow-covered mountains to escape the authorities, beatings took place frequently of those who were deemed lacking the conscience and determination to become revolutionary fighters, which even led to some deaths.
